Description

Collaboration with Mike Selby
Arp 123 consists of NGC 1888, the long, irregular edge on spiral and NGC 1889.
The fascinating galaxy pair, NGC 1888 and NGC 1889 are a seldom imaged spiral galaxy located 112 million light years away in Lepus, it is a small field of view. It is interacting with NGC 1889 which is around 5 million light years further away than NGC 1888. The disc of NGC 1889 is behind NGC 1888 but from our perspective 1889 appears to be diving into 1888.
Imaged in LRGB on the Planewave CDK 1000 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
Image Data and preprocessing: Thank you to Mike Selby at throughlightandtime.com for the data and collaboration!
